The first feature-length film to ever be directed by a sub-Saharan woman, chosen in last year’s official ballot at the Cannes Film Festival, Banel & Adema, is directed by French-Senegalese woman Ramata-Toulaye Sy and will be the opening film for the 21st Edition of The African Film Festival in Tarifa & Tangier (FCAT).
For the second year, the opening of the FCAT will take place on the African side of the festival, with an event at the Alcázar cinema in Tangier on Friday 24th of May, with a screening of the opening film taking place at the same time at the Alameda Theatre in Tarifa.
