The Learning Space is the educational arm of the ONGD Al Tarab, organiser of the Tarifa-Tangier African Film Festival (FCAT). It is a meeting and awareness-raising space for school audiences through film screenings and didactic sessions focused on the values of cultural diversity, cooperation and solidarity.

From 17 May to 6 June, schools in Spain and Spanish schools in Morocco will be able to access, upon registration, three films in the original version with Spanish subtitles and their corresponding didactic sheets. The films will be accessible both in the classroom and at home through the African Cinema Online Channel on Vimeo.

It is essential for schoolchildren to learn about other realities in Africa, to dissociate themselves from stereotypes, and to learn about the continent’s varied cultural richness, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda. Knowledge and understanding of the “other” are basic to people’s education. Through continuous work with young people, the Learning Space seeks to promote a fairer and more realistic understanding of African societies, using the most universal language of all: art.
