Learning Space

Cinema for educational centres

Spain | Morocco
From May 16th to June 5th

The Learning Space is the pedagogical branch of the ONGD Al Tarab, organiser of the African Film Festival of Tarifa-Tangier FCAT. It is a meeting and awareness-raising space for school audiences through film screenings and didactic sessions focused on values of cultural diversity, cooperation and solidarity.

From 16 May to 5 June, schools in Spain and Spanish schools in Morocco will be able to access, upon registration, three films in their original version with Spanish subtitles and their corresponding didactic sheets. The films will be accessible both in the classroom and at home through the African Cinema Online Channel on the Vimeo platform.

It is essential that schoolchildren learn about other realities about Africa, that they dissociate themselves from stereotypes, and learn about the varied cultural richness of the continent, in line with the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.

Knowledge and understanding of the “other” are basic to people’s education. Through continuous work with young people, the Learning Space seeks to promote a fairer and more realistic understanding of African societies, using the most universal language of all: art.

The FCAT 2022, with the collaboration of the Tarifa Town Council, the Cadiz Provincial Council, the Spanish Embassy in Morocco and the Audiovisual Council of Andalusia, once again brings cinema to schoolchildren in its commitment to quality education for all.
