12th PALAVER TREE

Training Forum and Professional Meetings

"Afrofeminist Narratives: Women in African Cinematographies"

from May 25 to 31, 2024

The 12th Palaver Tree: FCAT’s forum to promote the knowledge and advancement of African cinema.

The “Palaver Tree” Forum returns from 25 to 31 May for the 21st anniversary edition of the Tarifa African Film Festival (FCAT), under the title “Afrofeminist Narratives: Women in African Cinematographies”.

This programme brings together film professionals and international experts with the aim of promoting the development and internationalisation of the film and audiovisual industries of the neighbouring continent. In this way, with a view to exploring the key areas of valorisation of African cinemas and their diaspora, as well as the challenges and opportunities they face, thematic meetings, book presentations and the classic Film Aperitifs will be held. In addition, there will continue to be a commitment to support projects in the post-production phase in the FCAT LAB Workshop, and to the dissemination of knowledge without barriers of presence with the virtual African Cinema Seminars directed by Javier H. Estrada.

With the collaboration of the ACERCA Programme of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Tree of Words has become a reference platform for the dissemination of expertise on African and Diaspora films in the Spanish-speaking world. Through this initiative, each year it facilitates the generation of professional synergies that promote the production and commercial positioning of new African film content in our country.
