OLIMPIA PONT CHÁFER
He was born in Algiers in 1981. After obtaining his baccalaureate, he went to Paris to study Law and then Film at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français, where he obtained a joint diploma in Assistant Directing and Editing. He returned to Algiers in 2009 and joined the production company Thala Films. Since then, he has produced many fiction shorts and two documentary features. In 2011 and 2012, he won Best Producer in the Arab World at Abu Dhabi International Film Festival. He also produced the feature film Abou Leila by Amin Sidi-Boumédiène, which premiered at International Critics’ Week in Cannes in 2019. As a director, he completed the documentary Vote Off in 2017, which is banned in Algeria and premiered at Cinéma du Réel in Paris, as well as the short film Into the Night in 2021.
